THE COUNTRY

Endless Exploration, Experiences & Waves

With over 17,000 islands, Indonesia is far too vast and diverse for any short summary. Our beloved Indo offers so much more than its famous and special Bali. Some say the red and white flag comes from blood and bone, symbolizing the bond uniting its many cultures across the archipelago. We’d add kindness and joy, as everywhere we’ve traveled we’ve been warmly welcomed. A large portion of these islands has a privileged exposure to the Indian Ocean, with a few corners exposed to the Pacific, making Indo home to legendary classic breaks and countless secret, even unnamed waves. It may just be our favourite surf destination in the world.

Regions

/s/mentawai
Mentawai

Synonym of perfection, the Mentawai Islands are home to many of the best waves on the planet. It feels like divine intervention shaped this island chain. The countless world-class breaks, with their variety and high consistency, plus the islands’ preserved natural beauty and rich local culture, make the Mentawai a must on every surfer’s journey and the place to score the wave of a lifetime.

/s/eastern-indonesia
Eastern Indonesia

Stretching east of Bali, from Desert Point to Rote through islands like Sumbawa, Sumba, Eastern Indonesia is an extensive region of large islands filled with nooks and crannies. Exposed to SW swells and brushed by SE tradewinds, it delivers consistent offshore conditions in season for certain mind-blowing surf breaks, other excel in the off-season. Each island has its own uniqueness, making exploration very rewarding.

/s/sumatra
Sumatra

Sumatra has plenty to offer beyond the Mentawai. Just north lie the Telo Islands, slightly more tucked-in but still delivering epic, consistent surf all season. Keep heading up and you’ll find legendary Nias, along with quieter Asu, Bawa, and the Banyak Islands. Further still is Simeulue, another Indo gem before Aceh. Hidden treasures are everywhere, and even South Sumatra’s mainland serves up a few high quality breaks.

/s/indo-pacific
Indo Pacific

One of the most remote and lesser-known surf corners of Indonesia, the Indo Pacific islands mean virtually no surfers around. The season is shorter and less consistent than other regions, but chances are you’ll surf alone (if guided by one of the few who know these waves). A lot more beyond surfing. The area is extremely biodiverse, with unbelievable landscapes, hikes, and opportunities to meet local tribes.

/s/bali
Bali

Bali is the birthplace of Indo surfing, home to perhaps the most surf spots on a single island. The Bukit serves up some of the world’s best lefts, while Canggu’s playful peaks, Keramas’ perfect rights, and exposed South Coast magnets add variety. Alongside new hotels, parties, and wide array of activities, Bali’s unique & beautiful culture remains strong, making experiencing this paradise a lot more special.

Maldives

Discover the pristine atolls of the Maldives, where world-class surf breaks meet turquoise lagoons. Cruise between islands on a private yacht, or unwind at the best Surf Resorts in the world. This small island chain is a paradise for surfers and non-surfers alike.
