The Resort
PROBS OUR FAV ATLANTIC TRIP
On 26 hectares of Forest and oceanfront in Itacaré, Bahia, The Barracuda Hotel & Villas is a true South American gem. Rooted in warm and welcoming Bahian culture and shaped by Scandinavian design, it blends clean lines with natural textures across suites and private villas with infinity pools. The aim isn’t seclusion but immersion, with curated experiences that connect you to both local culture and nature. Surfing is part of its DNA, with diverse, really fun breaks nearby and one of the owners a local ripper. Food is equally central, from rooftop sundowners and beach BBQs to mangrove cruises, jungle meditations, and 4x4 surf explorations. Every detail invites you to slow down and recharge.
Accommodation
Perched above Praia do Resende, The Barracuda offers four categories of suites and villas ranging from 4–8 bedrooms. Architecture blends Bahian soul with Scandinavian simplicity, mixing rustic textures, modern lines, and design pieces and artworks by local artisans, with views of the bay in most cases. Suites feature queen or twin beds, panoramic views, and crafted details, while villas come with full staff, kitchen, and private infinity pool. Every space reflects Barracuda’s authentic design, offers unique spaces to share, and masters the art of slow living.

THE SURF
VARIETY AROUND ITACARÉ
Itacaré is probably the richest coast to surf in Brazil, with warm water, jungle-wrapped beaches, and variety of waves for every level. Boca da Barra is the jewel: a super-long rivermouth right that can run up to 600m but needs some juice. Around town, Tiririca brings consistency and barrels, while Prainha, Engenhoca, Jeribucaçu, and Pontal serve everything from mellow walls to punchy reef peaks. There’s year-round swell, peaking May–Oct but still fun in summer. Mostly wind swells, so more on-and-off than groundswell, but often fun and perfect for exploration. Ways to access and local knowledge are key, and Barracuda’s team has you covered with surf lessons and guided trips.
DINING
ROOTED FLAVOURS
Brazilian cuisine is super diverse, from picanha steaks to countless ways of cooking shrimp, including moquecas or bolinhos packed with flavour, to sweet caipirinhas. The Barracuda kitchen embraces Bahian flavors while adding world favorites like ceviche and plant-based burgers. Itacaré is a fishing town at heart, and seafood shines here, from lobster to the daily catch. Led by renowned local chefs, every dish reflects its origin and a true taste of Bahia. And yes, breakfasts in Brazil are something else.
EXPERIENCES

Between sessions, explore cocoa farms, cycle jungle trails, or simply dive into Bahia’s raw beauty. Fishing charters and day boat trips on Cioba boat are a highlight. Every experience connects you to place and people, curated around nature, wellness, and culture.Beyond the stay, the owners funded the Yandê Institute, driving social and environmental projects, working for a positive footprint but also inviting guests to join initiatives and leave a positive mark.
